Barcelona supertalent close to putting pen to paper on a new deal

Ansu Fati has taken over number ten after Leo Messi in Barcelona. After a long injury period, the talent is now back on the field and has after just over 90 minutes of playing time, over three matches, scored two goals in the league.

The 18-year-old’s contract with Barça expires next summer, and negotiations for an extension are in full swing. According to Fabrizio Romano, the parties are approaching an agreement. This applies to a long contract, until the summer of 2026. Only paperwork must remain before it is all ready.

The Daily Mail has previously reported that the negotiations stopped, as agent Jorge Mendes was not satisfied with the proposed buyout clause of SEK 10 billion, the same as Pedri recently contracted with Barcelona. Mendes was then also stated to want to sign a shorter contract with the Spanish giant.

It therefore remains to be seen what the parties have actually agreed on.
