It was in January that Mesut Özil, 33, left Arsenal for a transfer to Fenerbache. In the Turkish big club, the 33-year-old has so far played 21 matches and been noted for three goals and two assists. Now, however, there are indications that the stay in Turkey may be short-lived – Özil is said to be relevant for a return to the Premier League.
It is the transfer journalist Ekrem Konur who reports that Newcastle, which recently got new owners, will want to recruit Mesut Özil. According to the same information, the club is also interested in Fenerbache goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.
Mesut Özil spent just over seven years at Arsenal and was initially a leading player in the team, but the last time at the club was fraught with problems and no playing time. In total, the 33-year-old made 254 appearances for the London club and accounted for 44 goals and 77 assists.
