Xavi wants Sterling at Barcelona

Raheem Sterling

Barcelona have fired Ronald Koeman and the team is currently being coached by interim coach Sergi Barjuan. According to extensive media reports, the long-term solution is to bring the club icon Xavi to the coaching position. The parties are stated to be close to an agreement.

Even now, before Xavi is officially ready for the job, information is spread about his future plans with the team. According to journalist Gerard Romero, Xavi already has a wish list of players he wants to sign for the club.

One name should be Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling. The Englishman has previously opened to leave the club and try to play abroad. This after he has been outside Pep Guardiola’s starting eleven during the start of the season.

Romero states that Xavi is “a big fan” of Sterling and that the 26-year-old may be the first high-profile signing after the change of coach.

Pep Guardiola wants to reunite with Real Madrid midfielder

German national team midfielder Toni Kroos left Bayern Munich for Real Madrid in the summer of 2014 after being coached by Pep Guardiola for one season.

Now the Catalan newspaper El Nacional reports that Guardiola, now in Manchester City, wants to reunite with Kroos and recruit the German to the north-west of England.

Kroos, whose contract with Real Madrid expires in the summer of 2023, however, wants to wait until January before making any decision about the future, according to El Nacional.

The 31-year-old has had a long and successful career with, among other things, four Champions League titles and five domestic league titles. The 2014 World Cup title is also on the merit list.

Los Blancos is falling behind in the chase for Haaland

Erling Braut Haaland, 21, is hot on the market after scoring 70 goals and 19 assists in 69 games in the Dortmund shirt. Previously, several big clubs have been rumored to be in the fight to tie up the Norwegian next summer.

One of the clubs interested in Haaland is Real Madrid. Now, however, Spanish AS states that “Los Blancos” has slipped behind in the fight for the 21-year-old. Instead, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are said to be more eager to sign the attacking star.

According to reports, Real Madrid want to recruit PSG star Kylian Mbappé, a signing that would make it difficult to also recruit Erling Haaland to the club.

City have now put a price tag on Sterling, are they preparing for a sale?

Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling is open to leaving Manchester City, as he himself recently said. His contract expires in the summer of 2023, but since he is currently not a starting player, Sterling seems open to leaving earlier than that.

Pep Guardiola has previously pointed out how important Sterling is for City, even though he has not been in the eleven. But at the same time, the big club seems ready to let him go, if the right bid comes in.

They are said to have put a price tag on the 26-year-old, at just over SEK 800 million. It states Spanish Marca.

Sterling’s dream is to move to either Spain or France. Another club in England does not seem to be on the agenda at the moment.

Foden on the verge of a new contract

Phil Foden has grown into one of Manchester City’s biggest stars. The Englishman is now a part of the English national team squad and a key player in Guardiola’s team. His contract with the club expires in the summer of 2024.

According to Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, City are ready to offer Foden a contract extension. He writes that the club has an offer ready and that the 21-year-old will be offered a substantial salary increase.

The new contract will, according to Romano, extend until 2027. He states that only details remain to be resolved before an extension is in place. Guardiola sees Foden as an important piece of the puzzle in the club’s future.

Sterling is looking for a new challenge outside of England

Raheem Sterling

Manchester City star Raheem Sterling, 26, has had a variety of playing times this season and is rumored to be in the running for a move from the English big club. He recently opened up to leave to try playing outside England, to which coach Pep Guardiola then responded during Friday’s press conference:

“I didn’t know it. I didn’t think the club knew. Raheem is our player, hopefully he will be an incredibly important player for us. I don’t know if he wants to play more. Riyad [Mahrez] doesn’t play and he doesn’t complain, Joao [Cancelo] too.

“I cannot assure them, I cannot assure how many minutes each one plays. Always they have to speak on the pitch. Not Raheem, all of them. They know they are going to play minutes, all of them are involved. What I want from Raheem and everyone is they have to be satisfied to be here and delighted to be here.

“If that’s not the case he has to take the best decision for his family. I was a player, I understand completely, I wanted to play. All of them want to play every game but I cannot assure them.

“They have to improve every training session and be there on the pitch.”

Now the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo states that Barcelona are planning to recruit the English striker already in January. However, Sterling currently has an agreement with Manchester City until the summer of 2023.

The 26-year-old is listed this season for a goal and an assist in eleven appearances. He joined Manchester City from Liverpool in the summer of 2015. Since then, he has been involved in winning the Premier League on three occasions.

Is Sterlings future still at City?

After signing a new contract, England’s star player fears being pushed out.

According to The Sun, Raheem Sterling needs assurances from Pep Guardiola that he will remain in Manchester City’s plans before signing a new contract.

This season at the Etihad Stadium, the England international has cut a bit of a fringe figure and has been linked with a move to Barcelona, among other clubs.

Now it’s been revealed that he’ll only sign a new contract with the Premier League champions if he knows he’ll be a part of their future challenge.
