Emery confirms Premier League interest

Newcastle recently changed owners and are looking to bring in a new head coach to replace Steve Bruce. According to the English newspapers The Guardian and The Times, Newcastle hope to present Villarreal coach Unai Emery as the new head coach this week.

Now Emery confirms that there is interest from Newcastle.

  • I have become aware of their interest and I have not said no, but there is still no offer, the coach says according to Goal.com.

Emery has been in charge of Villarreal since last year and has led the club to a Europa League title. He has previously coached Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Sevilla, Spartak Moscow, Valencia and Almeria.

Toni Kroos

Newcastle has acquired new owners and is expected to spend money on new acquisitions as early as January. Now Spanish El Nacional reports that the club has set its sights on recruiting Toni Kroos, 31, from Real Madrid, who is said to top the new owners’ wish list.

According to the information, Newcastle must be ready to pay 30 million euros, almost 300 million kronor, to buy the German from “Los Blancos”. However, Kroos has a contract that extends to the summer of 2023, and it is unclear whether Real Madrid will agree to sell the midfield star as early as January.

Toni Kroos joined Real Madrid from Bayern Munich for the 2014/2015 season. In total, the 31-year-old has made 325 appearances in the Real jersey and was noted for 22 goals and 80 assists.

Newcastle eying one of Germanys greatest talents

Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, 18, is ranked as one of the greatest talents in Germany. The 18-year-old has impressed during the start of this season with six goals and six assists in eleven games, which has attracted interest from several big clubs around Europe.

Now the German newspaper Bild states that Newcastle is following the German midfielder. The English club has just got a new owner who can possibly strengthen significantly in January to save the club in the Premier League.

Wirtz currently has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen until the summer of 2026.

Dembélé is open for a move to the Premier League and Newcastle

Ousmane Dembélé, 24, has been rumored to be on his way from Barcelona for a long time. Barça and the 24-year-old have not managed to agree on an extension of the current contract, which expires in the summer of 2022.

Foot Mercao now states that the Frenchman is negotiating with major investment Newcastle for a five-year contract worth 15 million euros. According to the site Goal, Dembélé will be open for a move to the Premier League and north-east England.

Ousmane Dembélé has been sidelined with injury this season. The 24-year-old has previously been noted for 30 goals and 21 assists in 118 matches since joining Barcelona ahead of the 2017/2018 season.

Özil can do a chocking return to the Premier League

It was in January that Mesut Özil, 33, left Arsenal for a transfer to Fenerbache. In the Turkish big club, the 33-year-old has so far played 21 matches and been noted for three goals and two assists. Now, however, there are indications that the stay in Turkey may be short-lived – Özil is said to be relevant for a return to the Premier League.

It is the transfer journalist Ekrem Konur who reports that Newcastle, which recently got new owners, will want to recruit Mesut Özil. According to the same information, the club is also interested in Fenerbache goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.

Mesut Özil spent just over seven years at Arsenal and was initially a leading player in the team, but the last time at the club was fraught with problems and no playing time. In total, the 33-year-old made 254 appearances for the London club and accounted for 44 goals and 77 assists.

Newcastles next coach?

Newcastle announced on Wednesday that head coach Steve Bruce is leaving the club. This is just days after the club got a new owner in the form of the Saudi Arabian investment fund Public Investment Fund (PIF), which is overseen by the country’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Now the only question is who will replace Bruce in the coaching position in the English big club. At present, Graeme Jones will take over on a temporary basis, but a permanent head coach will be introduced in the near future.

British media have recently been speculating about who could replace Bruce, and according to Sky Sports, former Roma coach Paulo Fonseca is an alternative. Fonseca was stated this summer to be close to taking over Tottenham, but is now said to be a challenger to lead Newcastle in the future.

The English newspaper Daily Mail, in turn, mentions former Borussia Dortmund coach Lucien Favre and Rangers coach Steven Gerrard as possible candidates for the job. The Daily Mirror, in turn, has previously reported that former Bournemouth coach Eddie Howe is set to take over at Newcastle, while the Daily Express wrote that former Chelsea coach Frank Lampard is also a coach who could take over the club.

Newcastle are currently second in the league with three points after eight matches in the Premier League.
