Xavi and the five players he wants to transform Barcelona

Barcelona are still looking for a replacement for Ronald Koeman who was fired last week. According to several Spanish media, Xavi Hernández is highly relevant to take over as the new coach, and negotiations are said to be ongoing between Barça and the club icon’s Qatari club Al Sadd.

In other words, there is much to suggest that Xavi will return to Barcelona soon, and already now the former star midfielder is said to have identified five dream signings.

Spanish Sport reports that Xavi wants to bring in Kingsley Coman from Bayern Munich, and according to El National, the wish list also consists of Erling Braut Haaland (Borussia Dortmund), Paul Pogba (Manchester United), Jules Koundé (Sevilla) and Dani Olmo (RB Leipzig).

Recruitments that, however, can be difficult to complete. Barcelona is in an economic crisis and has billions in debt. Pogba has an expiring contract with United and can be recruited as boss this summer, but other players on the wish list are coveted names in the market and would cost many millions to row in port.

Barcela want a reunion with former La Masia player

Dani Olmo has taken a different path to the top of world football. After leaving Barcelona’s academy for the Croatian big club Dinamo Kiev in his teens, he has through Dinamo gone to RB Leipzig and then get a call up to the Spanish national team.

But now a return to Barcelona may be underway. According to the German newspaper Sport Bild, the Spanish big club is interested in recruiting the now 23-year-old Olmo. This will be a loan for the rest of the season, which can cost up to ten million euros, and then lead to a mandatory purchase of the midfielder for 60 million euros.

Olmo has missed part of the season due to a muscle injury, which he is currently working on coming back from. So far, there have been three appearances for Leipzig this year, where he was noted for an assist.

Manchester United and Manchester City are also said to be interested in Olmo.
